A spectacularly lit up bridge is hard to miss, but Montrealers who missed the inaugural lighting up ceremony of the Jacques Cartier Bridge got a chance to make up for it on Sunday night.

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre had pushed for a second presentation after the first was disturbed by demonstrating police officers on May 17.

More than 3,000 police officers held a noisy protest on that night, including banging drums and blowing horns, which kept many from hearing the Orchestre Metropolitain musical score.

The City of Montreal has since reached an agreement-in-principle with the police union on pensions.

Despite the disruption, than 400,000 people watched the ceremony in-person from Old Montreal, the South Shore and other areas. Another 1.8 million watched on television or online.

Officials at the committee for Montreal's 375th anniversary told CTV that the cost of re-staging of light show a second time is not included in the project's $40 million budget.

When asked how much each 30 minute show costs, organizers said they do not give budgets of specific events on the program.
