Montreal police arrested 12 people at the 15th edition of Bal en Blanc that took place at the Palais de Congress this weekend.

Nine people at the massive dance party were arrested for drug possession, and another three were arrested for drug possession with intent to sell.

About 15,000 people were estimated to have taken part in this year's "White Party," a five-night celebration that began on Thursday and ended on Monday at noon.

Sunday night's party, dubbed the "mega-event" by Bal en Blanc organizers, is considered the biggest bash of the Easter weekend rave.

Extra security

Partygoers at this year's event have been under tight security, since organizers took extra measures to discourage people from taking drugs at the annual rave.

Organizers spent $30,000 to have police officers in uniform at the entrance and in plainclothes on the dance floor.

They also hired extra security guards to search attendees for drugs.
