Neighbours in the north shore community of Ste-Therese made a grisly discovery on Monday evening.

According to the Therese-De Blainville Police, a 56-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment on Domaine Blvd. just after 6 p.m. by concerned neighbours who hadn’t seen the woman in a while. Peeking through a window, they spotted Martine Clement lying on her apartment floor.

First reports indicate she was stabbed multiple times in her upper body.

An autopsy being performed on Tuesday is expected to determine exactly how and when she died.

Clement's family came to the crime scene on Tuesday, and CTV Montreal reporter Kevin Gallagher spoke with them. He said they were, understandably, very distraught about the sudden death.

A command post was established outside of the woman’s apartment Monday night and the Surete du Quebec took over the investigation. The Therese-De Blainville police does not investigate murders.

Officers cordoned off the building where Clement's body was found and several nearby buildings.

"It's only because we are doing, as part of the investigation of course inside the building, but also outside to see any type of vehicles, cars, marks we can see on the ground," said SQ officer Benoit Richard.
