One man suffered serious head injuries and two other people were hurt after a head-on collision overnight in downtown Montreal.

The crash happened just before midnight at the intersection of Rene Levesque Blvd. and Beaver Hall Hill, with one car heading east, and an SUV going west making a right-hand turn.

The man in the passenger seat of the SUV was taken to hospital with head injuries, while both passengers in the car were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were unharmed.

Witnesses say both vehicles were going through yellow lights when the crash happened.

Both drivers and all the passengers are in their twenties.
