MONTREAL—A 21-year-old man will face impaired driving charges after he smashed his SUV into a taxi on Jean-Talon St. in Villeray early Sunday morning.
According to Montreal police, the force of the impact caused the taxi to roll forward and hit a man who had just paid his fare and hopped out. That man is now in hospital in serious but stable condition.
The accident took place just before 4:50 a.m. at the corner of Jean-Talon St. and Normanville St. The intersection was closed until just before noon as crime scene investigators were on the scene.
According to Montreal police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux, the driver was arrested and failed a breathalyzer test.
