$61,200.

That's the take home pay needed to be one of the ten percent of the richest people in Quebec.

According to data released Tuesday by the provincial government's Statistics Institute, anyone who earns more than $61,200 after taxes is among Quebec's economic elite.

That group, with an average after-tax income of $85,700, collectively earns 27 percent of all income made in Quebec.

People earning that much money are more likely to be homeowners, male, have university degrees and be aged 45 to 64 years old.

But being one of the richest in Quebec does not mean someone is among the richest in Canada.

Only one out of eight rich Quebecers qualify to be among the highest income earners in the country.

That's a significant decline since 1976, when more than one in five rich Quebecers were among Canada's wealthiest.
